We’re the only truly rural and regional community foundation dedicated to supporting communities across South West Victoria — and that matters.

Why? Because we understand the challenges and opportunities unique to our region. Every decision we make is grounded in local knowledge, and every dollar stays local — supporting the people, projects and ideas that help our communities thrive.

💙 Local people. Local giving. Lasting impact.

Today, as we recognise the 15th anniversary of the Colac Community Fund, we thought it timely to reflect on the ethos of South West Community Foundation as a whole. 💙
SWCF was born from the vision of the late Josie Black OAM, a tireless advocate for rural communities who believed that local people should have the power to invest in their own future.

Since 2007, that vision has guided our work — supporting grassroots organisations, building community connections, and helping strengthen the social fabric of South West Victoria.

At the heart of it all is a simple idea:
🌱 Give to grow.
Because when we give locally, we grow stronger together.

It’s hard to believe that tomorrow we will be celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Colac Community Fund. 🎉
Since 2010, this local sub fund of South West Community Foundation has been a powerful example of what’s possible when a community backs itself — with generous local donors supporting grassroots projects that make a real difference.

Established by a passionate group of Colac locals, the Fund was built on one clear idea: Local money should support local needs. 💙

In the years since, it’s returned over $250,000 in grants to volunteer-led, not-for-profit groups across the Colac Otway region — helping to grow connection, resilience and opportunity, right where it matters most.

We’re so proud to celebrate this milestone with the people who’ve made it all possible.
