Stacey3

Stacey Barnes

Director

Stacey has lived in south-west Victoria since 2013. Her early work in the region was in local government, where she supported the tourism and events sector and managed marketing and communications for two major arts venues. Through this work, she developed a strong understanding of place-making, building local capacity, and the role events and creative activity play in social and economic wellbeing.

Stacey now works with Regional Arts Victoria, leading a collaborative Creative Industries Strategy to support long-term outcomes across the Great South Coast. She is deeply passionate about empowering regional communities and the people who make them thrive, and was drawn to the South West Community Foundation for its strong focus on strengthening, supporting and celebrating local communities.

Joining the Board provides an opportunity for Stacey to contribute her skills and networks, while building on governance experience gained through board, committee and observership roles. She is committed to harnessing the power of place-based philanthropy to support positive, long-term outcomes for the region.

Cathryn 4

Cathryn Walder

Director

Cathryn is a proud Portland local, born and raised in the south-west, where she is now raising her children. She has worked across the Great South West region for many years in youth and community development roles, building strong connections with communities throughout the region.

More recently, Cathryn’s work has focused on improving youth mental health and reducing suicide, an area she is deeply committed to both professionally and personally. She has been involved in a range of impactful youth programs, including Future LeadersPassport to Employment, and Live4Life. Cathryn is also a passionate Teen Mental Health First Aid Instructor, delivering training across the region to build young people’s confidence and capacity to support one another.

Cathryn joined the South West Community Foundation Board following her completion of the Leadership Great South Coast program in 2023, where one of her post-program goals was to contribute at a board level to an organisation whose purpose and values aligned with her own. Conversations with the SWCF EO in 2025 about the Foundation’s new strategic direction confirmed this alignment and her desire to be part of the Board.
