Koroit Community Garden – Growing Together!

The Koroit Community Garden, established in 2025, is already blossoming into a vibrant space for locals to share, garden and grow.

Last Sunday marked the official launch, proudly opened by Moyne Councillor Susan Taylor, with around 50 community members in attendance 👏🎉 The project has been made possible thanks to the incredible support of local residents, businesses, volunteers and Moyne Shire Council – all growing from the roots of the Koroit Community Produce Swap.🌿

Located in High Street (between the library and senior citizens’ centre), the garden has been ‘fruitful’ in more ways than one since opening last October 🍓 It’s producing a colourful array of fresh produce including cucumber, tomato, capsicum, zucchini, silverbeet, spinach, pumpkin and a variety of delicious herbs. 🥒🍅🌶️🎃

More than just a garden, it’s a place where generations connect, skills are shared, friendships are formed and wellbeing flourishes. Community gardens bring enormous benefits – from improved physical and mental health to stronger community bonds and greater sustainability. 💚

We’re also thrilled to share that Ray Kaynes, Chair of the Koroit Community Fund, announced an additional $5,000 to help the project continue to ‘grow’ with more garden beds 🌱💰 The Koroit Community Fund is part of South West Community Foundation, and it’s fantastic to see local funds supporting local initiatives.

The garden is always open – so come along, get your hands dirty and be part of something special! 🌞🌿
