It takes a village to raise a child, and @lovedandshared_inc is what that village looks like.

This incredible volunteer-led organisation provides new and pre-loved nursery and children's goods to families experiencing hardship across South West Victoria, making sure every child has access to the essentials they need to thrive.

South West Community Foundation is proud to provide strategic funding to support this meaningful, community-led work.

Workshop three of the @leadershipgsc Rural Women LEAD program took Alison to the lovely Woolsthorpe last week.

Facilitated by Lynne Cazaly, the session focused on finding your voice as a leader — articulating ideas with clarity, advocating for what matters and inspiring action through compelling communication.

Beyond the learning, one of the real highlights of this program has been connecting with incredible women from across the region and exploring beautiful parts of South West Victoria along the way.

On Sunday, the South West Community Foundation Board came together for a Strategic Planning Day, reflecting on our purpose, celebrating our history, and shaping our future direction.

At the heart of it all is the founding vision of Josie Black and a belief in the power of community-driven philanthropy, where local people support local solutions and create lasting impact.

Our purpose remains clear: to celebrate, support and strengthen the community of South West Victoria.

Extraordinary people are doing extraordinary things across our region every day. Our role is to listen, understand, collaborate and support that work to keep growing.

Recently, our Board, co-opted committee members and staff had the opportunity to take part in a workshop with Andrew Binn's, CEO of Australian Communities Foundation (ACF) to gain a deeper understanding of how our investment portfolio is managed.

As a community foundation, SWCF’s funds are held within ACF’s investment structure, providing access to specialist investment expertise and a robust governance framework. The session provided valuable insight into how pooled philanthropic assets are invested, the processes in place to manage risk, and ACF’s commitment to responsible investment practices.

ACF works with Koda Capital, an independent wealth management and investment advisory firm, to support the management of its investment portfolios and ensure that philanthropic assets are carefully considered, responsibly invested and managed with long-term sustainability in mind.

The workshop was an important opportunity for our Board, committee members and staff to better understand the stewardship of the generous contributions entrusted to SWCF and the systems that support the ongoing protection and growth of these funds.

We thank Andrew and the Australian Communities Foundation team for sharing their knowledge and expertise, helping us continue to strengthen our governance and our commitment to creating lasting impact across South West Victoria.
